Strategic future commitment
Saba’s entry to the German market in 2018 constituted a strategic platform for company expansion towards central Europe.
With a presence in 17 cities in Germany, most of the contracts are located in town and city centres, with strategic locations to receive the flow of customers.
The business model in Germany relies on long-term management contracts and significant asset ownership to support growth in the infrastructure portfolio. Outstanding are the car park lease contract for the City Galerie shopping centre in the town of Aschaffenburg and the car park lease contract for a shopping centre in Bergedorf, Hamburg, as well as management of the TG Ratsbauhof car park in the city of Hildesheim.
Complying with the digitization and innovation standards set by the company in recent years, the infrastructure in Germany has a remote operation centre in Hildesheim to manage the car parks.
Saba has deployed the first experience of a barrierless car park (apart from UK railway station car parks), with its control system, in the car park in the German town of Düren, which was remodelled in 2021 and has 405 parking spaces. Central and northern European countries have opted for this technology, based on number plate reading and where the collection process is managed directly by the car park operator.
A highlight among the most recent operations is the rental contract for the LIO shopping mall car park in Berlin, with 308 spaces. Saba cooperates with the centre's owner Principle in other locations such as Düren, Hamburg and Aschaffenburg.
